Chrono Trigger

Chrono Trigger assembled an unprecedented dream team: Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy), Yuji Horii (Dragon Quest) and Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball) as character designer. The result is the most beloved JRPG ever. Time travel between prehistory, medieval era, apocalyptic future and end of time created an intricate yet accessible plot. The combat system with Double and Triple Techs rewarded experimentation. Thirteen different endings, including New Game+, rewarded replayability. Yasunori Mitsuda's soundtrack is considered the finest ever composed for a video game.
