The Story
Final Fantasy VI is the most ambitious JRPG of the 16-bit era. Fourteen playable characters, each with personal story and unique mechanics. Kefka Palazzo, the villain, didn't want to rule the world โ he wanted to destroy it, and succeeded halfway through, a plot twist no RPG had dared. The Opera scene, where Celes sings Maria and Draco with 16-bit music as moving as an orchestra, is the moment video games proved they could reach art. Nobuo Uematsu composed 60 tracks. It's the swan song of pixel art in JRPGs.
