The Story

Practice was Home Pong's solo mode: a single player hit the ball against a wall that automatically bounced it back. No opponent, no score โ€” just you, the paddle and the ball. Seems trivial, but it was significant: Magnavox's Odyssey always required two players. Practice made Home Pong usable alone, enormously widening its appeal. For children with nobody to play with or adults wanting to sharpen reflexes, Practice was essential. The 'training mode' concept would become standard in every future sports game.
