Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG was Square's last Nintendo game before the divorce that brought Final Fantasy to PlayStation. Miyamoto and Sakaguchi joined forces: pre-rendered isometric graphics were gorgeous, the 'timed hit' system made battles active, and Geno — a puppet possessed by a star spirit — became one of fans' most beloved and requested characters. It originated Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi.
