Street Fighter II Turbo for SNES was the arcade conversion that sold the console to an older audience. Twelve characters with special moves, combos and matchups to study. Ryu vs Ken, Guile vs Zangief: every combination was a different challenge. Local multiplayer transformed the SNES into the neighborhood social center. Home tournaments were as serious as arcade ones. Capcom updated the game multiple times (World Warrior, Champion Edition, Turbo, Super), each selling millions. Street Fighter II defined competitive fighting.
