Ape Escape

Ape Escape was the first PS1 game requiring DualShock: left stick moved Spike, right stick controlled gadgets. Nets, slingshots, helicopters, radar: each tool used the stick differently. Monkeys to catch had different personalities (aggressive, shy, fleeing) and the game was surprisingly deep. The idea was crazy — catching monkeys in pants — and it worked perfectly.
