AD&D: Treasure of Tarmin

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Treasure of Tarmin was a historic milestone: the first true first-person RPG on a home console, four years before Phantasy Star. The Minotaur guarded treasure on the deepest level of a procedurally generated dungeon. Every playthrough was different. The first-person view — rudimentary but functional — showed corridors, doors, monsters and treasures. Inventory, character stats and the choice between combat and escape created unprecedented strategic depth. The keypad overlay showed RPG commands. Tarmin proved Intellivision could offer experiences impossible on Atari 2600.
