Pokémon Gold / Silver

Gold and Silver are the Game Boy's technical miracle. Satoru Iwata personally compressed the code to include not just Johto but all of Kanto — two games in one cartridge. The real-time day/night cycle changed which Pokémon appeared and when. Pokémon breeding, shinies, and nighttime encounters added enormous depth. The moment players discovered they could return to Kanto, explore eight additional gyms and challenge Red atop Mt. Silver marked an entire generation. The perfect sequel — bigger, deeper, more surprising.
