The Story
Wonder Boy III is universally considered the Master System's best game. After defeating the Meka Dragon, the protagonist is cursed and transformed into a dragon. Each subsequent boss transforms him into a different animal — mouse, piranha, lion, hawk — each with unique abilities opening new areas. It was a Metroidvania before the term existed. Lizardcube's 2017 remake confirmed how ahead of its time the original design was.
