The Story

Bloodlines brought Castlevania to Mega Drive โ€” the only time in history the series appeared on a Sega console. Two protagonists with radically different styles (John Morris with the Vampire Killer whip, Eric Lecarde with the Alcarde Spear) doubled replayability. Setting was a journey through 1917 Europe: Greece, Germany, Italy with the Tower of Pisa collapsing in real-time, France and England. Mega Drive enabled effects impossible on SNES like water reflections and blood jets โ€” censored in the European version. The FM sound chip gave Castlevania a completely different sound from SNES, rawer but equally atmospheric.
